Getting started · Step 3
Forward your number
Keep the number on your trucks and ads. Just point call forwarding at the ClearLine line we give you.
≈ 3 minutes
You don't change carriers or hand out a new number. Forwarding sends calls to ClearLine only when you want — and you can turn it off anytime.
Find your ClearLine number
In the portal under Settings → Number you'll see the dedicated ClearLine line assigned to your business. This is the number your calls forward to.
Set call forwarding on your line
Dial the forwarding code for your carrier, then the ClearLine number. Most US carriers use *72 to enable and *73 to cancel:
| Action | Dial |
|---|---|
| Turn forwarding on | *72 then your ClearLine number |
| Turn forwarding off | *73 |
Exact codes vary by carrier — the portal shows the precise code to dial for your line.
Choose when your receptionist picks up
Pick the routing that fits how you work:
- After-hours & missed calls — perfect if you answer during the day and want coverage for everything you can't get to
- Always (24/7) — a full-time front desk for every call, on every plan
Place a test call
Call your own number and let it forward. You should hear your receptionist greet you with your business name — that confirms forwarding and your greeting are both working.
